AWARD OF THE EDAR DE FRENDA (WILAYA DE TIARET, ALGERIA).
The “Direction des Ressources en eau de la Wilaya de Tiaret” resolved the award of the international tender for the construction of an urban wastewater treatment plant in the town of Frenda (a town located some 50 kilometres from Tiaret, 320 kilometres from the capital, Algiers, and 200 kilometres from Oran) in favour of the Consortium formed by the companies SARL ELBAYRAK, S.A. de Obras y Servicios, COPASA and PESA Medioambiente, S.A.U.
The project includes the study of the elaboration of the civil engineering works and the supply of the electromechanical equipment, execution, start up and operation during 2 years.
The total amount of the work amounts to 2,199,637,640.67 Algerian dinars (including all taxes), of which 84,664,501.77 corresponds to 2 years’ operation. This is approximately 21 million euros, applying the exchange rate used in the tender and the overall term of the work is 18 months, plus the 24 months corresponding to management and operation.
The project is designed to serve 162,000 equivalent inhabitants, with a flow of 20,000 m3/day, by the year 2030. The budgeted process consists of coarse and fine pre-treatment, 2 desanding-degreasing lines, 3 biological lines, 3 secondary decanters, disinfection, sludge treatment by aerobic sludge digester, 2 gravity thickeners and dehydration by band filters and safety drying beds.
